We offer an approach to trauma & addiction with a fresh lens which promotes a holistic view of healing from traumatic experiences and environments. Traumatic and severely stressful, upsetting events can trigger anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, and unhelpful ways of coping with the overwhelming effects of such major life crises. Our goal is to assist in the process by enhancing positive change in life after trauma.
This group works to facilitate posttraumatic growth and promote improved adjustment in a newly defined and valued life. Posttraumatic growth involves an intentional attempt to understand and assign meaning to traumatic events, transforming negative effects into positive meanings and change. Members re-examine events through different cognitive perspectives to reconstruct core beliefs about one’s self, the world, and the future, which are frequently disrupted in the aftermath of trauma.
The trauma/Substance Use IOP group incorporates resistance training and/or functional training into the daily group process. The goal of this intervention is to specifically treat trauma in the body and learn new ways to cope with trauma in healthy ways. Each client will receive a full wellness assessment to measure mobility and ability to incorporate exercise into their treatment plan. Modification to movement where there is a physical limitation. Individualized nutrition plans will be incorporated into each patient’s treatment goals.
Many different therapeutic approaches are used in the group however the main approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Other (but limited too) approaches include Holistic, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Internal Family Systems.
